Behind Door 104

104 years in the making – The Cottesloe Beach Hotel that is!

The new “104 Cotteloe” bar has opened in time for the festive season.

Factotum Industries supplied and installed a complete AV system comprising EVID speakers (in 2 zones), a 50″ Panasonic plasma display, Crown XLS amplification, dynamic range control, DTV-B decoder, multiformat DVD, switching and more.

How can we help your business?

Meltdown Lowdown

Well it seems the Meltdown reunion / demolition party was beyond everyone’s expectation. With a kicking PA system and lighting rig (courtesy of warehouse co-residents One 20 Productions), custom visuals on twin screens (one giant, the other behind the DJs), multi-colour lasers and more it looks like Factotum Industries knows how to put the Arty in Party! Thank you to all that helped / attended in what was the final chapter of Meltdown. Or is it…

(Tool) Belting Along

There hasn’t been an update in a few weeks – and for good reason! We’ve been absolutely flat out with a myriad of projects.

Here’s a few highlights : PA upgrades & repairs to new restaurant Alaturka, audio fault finding and upgrades to Double Lucky (an ultra-cool 25+ small bar in Leederville), remedial works to an installation in a club in Northbridge, assisting with a jukebox / PA system in Port Hedland, fitting out the swank new “Malibu” bar at the Cottesloe Beach Hotel with a PA, plasma TV and control system, programming and instructing staff in the use of DMX lighting control systems at One 20 Productions, fitting RF encoders for video distribution, transcoding video footage, building a fleet of new OEM PCs, servicing evaporative airconditioner plants, building new high-spec custom servers, welding repairs to warehouse doors, installing ID scanning systems, setting up new hosting accounts & migrating clients, answering countless esoteric questions… and that’s just the highlights!

We’ll have more updates “from the front” as we power in to the silly season.

We’ve spent plenty of time setting up domains / hosting for clients but have never really been satisfied with some of our providers / support / pricing.

So we’ve become resellers for domains, web & e-mail hosting and can be a “one stop shop” for sale, supply and service of your on-line needs especially when time is a factor.

Links to the reseller portals will be up shortly if you wish to purchase yourself or drop us a line to discuss your needs and we can take care of all the technical backend and save you the headache.

He’s a Pinball Wizard

arcademachineAll work and no play makes jack a dull boy…

One of the “fun” projects we’ve been working on for some time is (re) building an arcade console.

The unit was originally a hacked Amiga with some scary wiring in an original case. After it burnt out it was time for v2.0.

So we’ve squeezed a Pentium 4 box in, replaced the aging CRT with a fresh one and hooked up the arcade controls via a USB interface. Just add an emulator and hey presto – countless hours of reliving the days down at the deli / fish and chip shop.

I’m sure if we’d fitted a coin mechanism to it we would have been able to retire by now 🙂

When it’s not getting used for relaxation it doubles as the bandwidth monitor for the office network and runs photo promos.
