One of our long term client projects has seen us do extensive work in the areas of gas measurement and process control.

Sadly the details are confidential at this point but needless to say it’s been an amazing amount of design, prototyping of parts, assembly (electronic and gas parts), custom coding for web server back ends and more.

Once the system is live we will provide a link here so you can see (most) of what we’ve been helping develop.

A client recently needed to do a semi-permanent projection project.

So we fabricated a custom waterproof enclosure (pictured is our second prototype) featuring forced cooling, added an Arduino controller to automatically start the projector at (timed) power up, fitted it with anti-theft mechanisms and installed a media player inside the building to drive the system.

Recent baking / pouring weather made setting up a little awkward but the system is up and running.

Our recent Tweets regarding our “TV-B-On” project has generated quite a lot of interest.

In short we are plagued by systems with “soft-on” buttons – i.e. when you power the device up (from the wall switch) it simply enters standby mode.

To solve this we used an Arduino to export the Infra Red codes of the required equipment’s remotes and then create a unit (in this case a 16MHz / 5v Arduino Micro) to play back the codes when powered up. We’ve also got a version with a RTC (Real Time Clock) to do timed starts / stops. At this stage the Arduino is probably overkill so we’re looking to produce an ATtiny version at some point down the road.

We were fortunate enough to be asked to repair and upgrade the PA system at popular Subiaco nightspot Gold Bar.

As part of our brief we installed additional KV Audio EX10 top boxes, KX 1.8 subwoofers, replaced old generic amplifiers with quality Crown units and added a dbx system controller to give precise setup control over each zone in the building. Attention to detail was shown at every point with neat, secure cabling, labelling and safety wires as just a few examples of our level of finesse.

Follow up visits were made during trade to EQ and adjust the system for peak performance.

The sound is powerful and clear – a testament to quality equipment and expert installation.

2011 saw us spend plenty of hours at local venue Flawless.

After a prolonged technical hand over (following recent extensive renovations) we have been able to focus on maximizing the effectiveness of the systems and ironing out many kinks.

The PA system has been serviced with extensive repairs to the subwoofers, ageing amplifiers have been substituted with industry standard Crown units, numerous tweaks have been made to the lighting control system, advanced video facilities (VJ feeds etc) have been integrated to their table top / projector systems along with a host of back end systems (WiFi / Cat 6 networks, tills, ATMs).

Overall the venue features an impressive and functional AV component the helps take it to the next level.

Our specialty prototyping project has stepped in to high gear. Obviously we can’t go in to the specifics here but needless to say it has involved the design and production of some pretty fancy test equipment. From creating easily editable OpenSCAD design files, creating new lower cost / more logical layouts, to machining key components from acrylic blocks, integrating the hardware components and then bench testing. Each time closer to a fully working beta destined for commercial testing. If we get the clearance for some photos we will upload them here…

The downstairs DJ box is back in the rear room and has been fulled serviced and pimped for 5 star quality (on both sides of the box). On the cards is the installation of the new Wi-Fi hot spot (run your office from the veranda with your laptop and a cold beer) and repairs to the veranda speaker system.
